As we traversed the rugged roads of Northern Santa Barbara we stumbled upon the Pena family and their impressive farm. Erika Pena runs the show at Finca Sophia. In addition to spending quite a bit of time organizing and helping run the farm, she also works as a lawyer in the nearby city of Trinidad. Part of the magic that springs forth from this land is the energy and passion that is immediately apparent upon meeting the family. Their hard work and friendly sense of competition has driven them to produce this beautiful fruit-forward microlot at a time when many other farms have been shutting down. It is our hope to grow this collaborative farm direct trade project for many years to come.
